Curated List of Anti-Slop Skills for AI Code Clean-up

X postJuampiResource

Juampi shares a list of agent skills designed to identify and remove redundant or low-quality AI-generated code («slop») from branches.

Key points

  1. Curated collection of seven skills on skills.sh, including dmmulroy/anti-slop, cursor/plugins thermo-nuclear-code-quality-review, and brianlovin/agent-config/deslop.
  2. Skills target common AI coding patterns: superfluous comments, abnormal defensive checks/try-catch blocks, type casts to any, and inconsistent code styles.
  3. Rigorous skills like thermo-nuclear prompt agents to perform aggressive refactorings and structural simplifications.
  4. Brian Lovin notes in the thread that he no longer endorses or uses his deslop skill.
  5. Evaluating code slop remains subjective; the author acknowledges that measuring effectiveness currently relies primarily on testing prompts and observing outcomes.

Why it matters

LLMs frequently introduce bloated boilerplate, unnecessary defensive coding, and generic comments. Curated review skills attempt to integrate systematic cleanup directly into agentic coding workflows.

Analysis

The collection highlights developer frustration with typical AI code artefacts and the desire to automate code quality reviews. However, the reliance on subjective prompt adjustments rather than strict automated evals exposes limitations. Brian Lovin's disavowal of his own skill also suggests that post-processing code with secondary agent prompts may not always be an enduring solution.

  8. @_vinayak_k @dillon_mulroy @ericzakariasson @brian_lovin @poteto Cool share
  9. @init_malachi @dillon_mulroy @ericzakariasson @brian_lovin @poteto Yeah, that’s probably the right way to test it. Could use something like @deepeval for the eval layer and custom criteria for what counts as “slop”. Interesting part tho is defining that rubric well enough so test isn’t just vibes.
  10. @leozc @dillon_mulroy @ericzakariasson @brian_lovin @poteto Tbh, in mlst cases is just vibes. Try prompts, see outcomes. And move on

  • @brian_lovin @juampitech @dillon_mulroy @ericzakariasson @poteto fwiw i'd not use or endorse a deslop skill any more, I can't remember where I originally found that.
  • @alxshp @juampitech @dillon_mulroy @ericzakariasson @brian_lovin @poteto 8. for postgres diagnostics t.co/J5cyCrw3E4
  • @thetokendad_ @juampitech @dillon_mulroy @ericzakariasson @brian_lovin @poteto Here's one I built before finding the unslop skills (need to improve it!) t.co/t1QSwrszl2
  • @_vinayak_k @juampitech @dillon_mulroy @ericzakariasson @brian_lovin @poteto i built- t.co/vm5WUh55cJ, haven’t had chance lately to update it but it’s a nice slop prevention tool i use in my CI
  • @TheClayMethod @juampitech @dillon_mulroy @ericzakariasson @brian_lovin @poteto I'm sure there's some axiom out there that at least one of these is also slop. Th @dillon_mulroy one is solid. I used it all weekend
